With Christmas only just around the corner, we’ll soon be entering 2020 before you know it. And, with a New Year, comes new promises, fresh starts and of course, those famous New Year resolutions.

‘In 2020, I promise to keep on top of all the house cleaning, and become more organised’

If you’ve found yourself making this resolution for the past few years, you’ve probably had the best intentions, but no plan in order to follow this through. As a professional cleaning company based in Hampshire, we know that as with any resolution (especially the cleaning ones), you start out strong and determined, but slowly fizzle out with time.

Here at Bennett’s Home Shine, we want to help you make 2020 different! We’ve devised a cleaning plan which will help you distinguish a daily, weekly, monthly and even seasonal cleaning schedule which will not only keep you organised but steer you on track when it come to your New year’s resolution!

For those who haven’t set out a cleaning New Year’s resolution, the best part about this plan is that you can jump in and out when it suits, making it the perfect cleaning plan for everyone. There are no rules here, but this easy to follow schedule works best when you plan it out. So, we recommend a calendar. Write out your cleaning plan for the month on your calendar following our schedule, laminate it, and post it in a hard to miss place.

So, without further ado, let’s get started on our New Year’s cleaning schedule.

Daily

there are a few quick, basic chores that I’m sure you can agree, need to be done on a daily basis to keep your home looking and feeling clean. Try splitting up these chores into ‘bite size’ chunks. We find doing tiny bits of cleaning as you go about your day, minimises a large cleaning chore in the evening.

For example:

Morning: Make the beds, put your washing into the washing machine, wipe down the links and counters in the bathroom.

Starting the day off having already achieved all of the above will definitely make you feel a lot more productive.

Save tasks like wiping down the kitchen counters and skinks, washing the dishes and sweeping the floors until the evening. It’s a lot nicer to tackle chores such as these once all meals have been made, and there’s no excuse for someone to mess up your freshly cleaned sides!

Weekly

Weekly chores tend to get done when you assign a day to them. Whether Sunday is laundry day, or Saturday is designated for the kitchen, by assigning a day to your chores you’re creating routine, making it easier to keep up with your duties.

Our weekly chore example can be seen below:

Day 1– Bedrooms – laundry, including linen

Day 2– Kitchen- clean all appliances, bleach the sink, scrub the stove, and disinfect all counters and handles.

Day 3- Bathroom- wipe down all mirrors, wash curtains and bath matts, clean shower walls and the bath tub, bleach the sink, disinfect the counters and toilet.

Day 4- The House- dust furniture, vacuum landing and stairs, sweep and mop the floors and wipe down the sides.

Day 5- Admin – sort out all bills, declutter, file important documents, take out all rubbish bins and organise your paperwork as needed.

Day 6- Organisation- put away your clean washing, iron, organise ‘that’ draw.

Monthly

There’s no getting away from the fact that once a month, you’re going to have to get down and dirty and really deep clean. As a domestic cleaning agency based in Hampshire, we often find that most monthly chores get overlooked. Which is why a visual reminder can be just the thing you need.

Here’s just some of the monthly chores we recommend are carried out monthly, without fail.

  • Cleaning your windows, floorboards, ceiling fans and decorative mirrors
  • Clear out your fridge, and deep clean (inside an out)
  • Vacuum furniture, walls and air vents
  • Clean the kids toys, organise play areas, bookshelves and storage units.

No kids? Tackle the office or living room. Wide won your computer, your desk and desk supplies and file all loose paperwork.

I know this is all pretty basic stuff, but sometimes, just sometimes having someone organise your cleaning chores for you, alleviates additional stress.

If you’re tired of tackling your daily, weekly and or monthly cleaning chores yourself, Bennett’s Home Shine is a professional domestic cleaning agency in Hampshire, on hand to offer weekly, fortnightly or monthly cleaning services. Even if it’s your New Years resolution, we won’t tell if you won’t!
